FeatureS
Our product has been serving users for over a decade, evolving continuously through iterative development. Over the years, we’ve introduced a wealth of new features, constantly expanding its capabilities without revisiting or rethinking the underlying navigation structure. While this approach allowed us to grow quickly, it also introduced complexity, making it harder for users to intuitively find what they need.
As we transition to a SaaS model, simplifying our navigation has become a priority. Not only do we want to streamline the experience for our users, but we also aim to empower them to accomplish more on their own, reducing reliance on support. This update marks an important step toward creating a product that is as intuitive as it is powerful.

Our new vertical navigation design unifies testing and monitoring navigation into one central, cohesive structure, enhancing visual scannability for a modern and streamlined experience. By aligning with common patterns found in industry tools, it feels intuitive and familiar to users, reducing the learning curve and enabling faster onboarding. This new structure not only improves usability but also ensures that all key functionalities are easily accessible, helping users stay focused and efficient.
The previous navigation structure wasn’t scaling effectively with our product’s growth. The vertical navigation provides a more flexible framework for integrating new functionality as our platform evolves through a system of sub-pages within each major tab. This clean and scalable approach ensures our navigation will grow with the product, supporting our pace of innovation without compromising usability.
After 10 years of working closely with our users, we understand that they—and their use cases—are incredibly diverse.
Flexibility is key for delivering a personalized user experience. With the new navigation, we can adapt the interface to reflect the unique needs of different types of businesses. For instance, companies focusing on monitoring can have a tailored view with monitoring-specific features front and center, while those prioritizing manual testing can see a layout optimized for their workflows.
Additionally, we’ve decoupled critical sections like Devices and Agents from the main admin area. This allows non-admin users to access important device-related information without compromising security by granting full administrative access. This improvement ensures that all users can access the tools they need, while maintaining strict control over sensitive administrative functions.
The Realtime Status, Overview, Incidents, and Analytics tabs provide a high-level view of your tests and operations. These features allow you to build dashboards, monitor progress, and gain an objective understanding of everything happening in your environment. It’s all about offering clarity and control at a glance.
The Live Session, Testing, Executions, Monitoring, and Environments tabs are now scoped to individual products. This eliminates the need to switch between testing and monitoring tools, creating a smoother workflow. From creating a test via the remote control to scheduling it as a monitor, everything flows seamlessly within the same product context.
As mentioned earlier, Devices and Agents have been decoupled from the admin area. This ensures better access management, allowing non-admin users to retrieve device-related information without requiring full administrative privileges.
At Kapptivate, we’ve always believed in the importance of testing on real, physical devices to accurately replicate the user experience. This philosophy has been core to our approach since the beginning. By making devices more accessible and central to the navigation, users now have a clearer view of device usage and can more easily perform essential actions, such as managing devices, rebooting them, and ensuring their optimal performance throughout the testing process.
We’ve combined Workspace Settings and Profile Settings into a unified experience. Unlike a social network, we don’t need to dedicate excessive space to these areas. However, we’ve improved the experience for users managing multiple workspaces and for internal teams needing efficient access to these settings.
We also took this opportunity to refine the wording throughout the user experience. The goal? Clearer, more intuitive, and most importantly, consistent terminology across the board. For example, we've replaced "ethernet" with "web" and transformed what used to be called "platform" or "environment" into the more unified term "workspace." 🎉
In doing so, we’ve aimed to simplify complex terms, making the experience easier to navigate and more in line with how people naturally think about their workspaces.
Our team is thrilled and proud to release this new navigation feature! ✨
To ensure a smooth transition, we’re rolling it out in BETA first. During this period, you’ll have the flexibility to switch between the new and old navigation, giving you time to explore the changes and share your feedback with us.
This new navigation will become the default experience soon, so we encourage you to try it out early and let us know your thoughts. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us refine and perfect the user experience.
Thank you for your support—we can’t wait to hear what you think!
